Dear friends,
I hope that this letter finds you all well! Things are pretty good around home right now - I am thankful for home these days - I guess you could say that I've become more stationary in the past couple of years - at least in my mind I have.  I've learned to enjoy simple things.  I've also learned to enjoy those same simple things - everyday.  There is something nice about routine.  I've been spending a lot of time in the garden most days - if you don't grow a garden, you certainly should next year - even a small box garden if you can.  There is something very rewarding about placing fragile seeds into the soil and watching them grow.  Its a pretty easy task really - my garden has basically grown itself - once and a while you pick a weed or two, and every couple of days you give it a drink.  We all get thirsty.  You'd be surprised how great you feel after getting in the dirt and picking some weeds or standing there for half an hour in the morning watering your plants.  I reckon it can be a sense of quiet that we don't often get these days.  Then again - I know these things are not for everyone - but they are most definitely for me.

That aside - things have been real exciting the past week! If you haven't heard yet, we released the very first single from my new record - a song called "woke up".  I posted a tweet today - about how intrigued I am about the first five minutes one wakes up - as you sort of climb out of the state of sleep.  I love it.  It might be my favourite time of day - that first five minutes.  Anyways! It is super refreshing to finally get to share some of these songs with you folks.  I was fortunate to have some very great musicians play on these songs - folks like Aaron Goldstein, Karrnnel Sawitsky, Chris Prpich and Ben Hadaller.  If you haven't heard the new song yet, you should zip over to to have a quick listen.  It'll only take roughly three minutes! You can also go ahead and pre order both the cd's and the vinyl's there too if you want to be one of the first people to receive your copy! By pre ordering a copy it also means that on the day of the release a digital copy of the album will be sent straight to your e-mail inbox.  Since there are a handful of songs about the morning - it might be a nice way to wake up?  We'll definitely have copies of both the vinyl and the cd when we're out on the road this fall.

Speaking of which, everyday it seems there are more and more tour dates that are confirmed.  So far we've got around 60 shows that we'll be doing across Canada - and there are still a handful of dates out east that we've yet to confirm.  I'm super excited to be heading back out on the road - and going coast to coast.  There is nothing that I'd rather be doing then rambling' around and singing songs out on the road.  And as Townes Van Zandt once said, "there's no prettier sight then looking back on a town you've left behind".  I couldn't agree more.  I've got so many good memories in all of these places across the country already - I can't wait to see what the fall will bring.  For a full and current list of performance dates head over to

I should also say - I'm real excited to have a very fine gent out on the road with me this fall - Mr. Ian Cameron of Regina, Saskatchewan is going to be out on the road playing some pedal steel and keeping my sanity in check.  Its been a while since I've had someone out with me playing shows - and Ian is a great guy - and a real great pedal steel player too.  I'm excited to play these songs a little more like how they sound on the record!

Anyways, I am dragging on here - I hope that you're all having a good couple of first days of August! I know I am.  July was a great month - but I always look forward to they changing of the seasons - harvest - the fall - and getting back on the road to hang out with you folks.  Thanks for being apart of this journey - lets keep in touch.

Be well,
